About Flags

Caring for your flag

  • DO inspect your flag regularly and repair any small tears
  • DO fit an ‘anti-fray’ netting to your flag
  • DO wash your flag with warm water and a mild soap

  • DON’T expose your flag to abnormally high winds
  • DON’T store your flag wet
  • DON’T place your flag where it can whip against another surface.

REMEMBER

Regardless of how well it is made, a flag is only a piece of fabric and will, sooner or later, succumb to the elements. Tests have shown that in some cases a flag flown for 24 hours a day will last one quarter as long as one flown only during day light hours.
